Test your message assets with real prospects against clarity, resonance, and differentiation, and route refinements to the right step, so you build channels around a message proven to land.
Who to test with: five to ten real prospects or best-fit customers. Not friends, not your team. People who match your target. How to test: in a short conversation or a piece of lightweight outreach, share your one-liner and elevator version, then observe and ask.
Tally results across your testers.
| Check | How to test it | Pass signal | Tally (passed / tested) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Clarity | Ask them to say back what you do | They describe it correctly in seconds | |
| Resonance | Watch their reaction to the pain | They lean in, say "that's me," or want more | |
| Differentiation | Ask why they would pick you over their current option | They can name a real reason |
Where a check fails for most testers: a clarity failure means the language is still internal, so return to the lead pain and the assets. A resonance failure means the lead pain is wrong or too mild, so return to the pain. A differentiation failure means the difference is not meaningful to them, so return to the differentiation work. Refine and retest until all three pass with most prospects. A message that passes here is ready for the engine.
