Your symptom picture turned into a maturity level for each of the four parts of pricing, so the work becomes measurable instead of a vague unease.
For each part, read the five levels and record the one that most closely matches you today. The line most owners are crossing sits between Level 2 (Aware) and Level 3 (Capable). Be honest about where you actually are, not where you would like to be.
Level 1: price is a pure guess, no cost or value understanding. Level 2: cost known roughly, value not understood, cost-plus pricing. Level 3: cost floor and value both understood, pricing anchored to value. Level 4: value quantified and willingness to pay well read. Level 5: deep, dynamic understanding of value and sensitivity.
Level 1: one crude price, wrong model. Level 2: a single price, model not deliberate. Level 3: a fitting model with tiers that capture value. Level 4: structure differentiated by segment and well optimized. Level 5: a sophisticated, value-capturing structure.
Level 1: prices set in fear, reflexive discounting. Level 2: timid, cost-anchored, rarely raised. Level 3: prices set to value, justified, raised deliberately, discounting disciplined. Level 4: confident, consistent value-based pricing. Level 5: pricing power is a real strength.
Level 1: nothing tracked, never reviewed. Level 2: occasional glances, no testing. Level 3: pricing metrics tracked, tested, reviewed on a cadence. Level 4: continuous, data-driven optimization. Level 5: dynamic, predictive pricing optimization.
Record a level for all four parts before moving on. A part sitting at Level 1 or 2 is a candidate constraint. Carry all four scores into the Pricing Constraint Map, which applies the dependency rule to name the single one to fix first.
