← Back to Priority Clarity and Alignment

Urgent and Important Triage Grid.

Break the "everything is urgent" trap by separating urgency, which is time pressure, from importance, which is value and alignment, so important-but-not-yet-urgent work stops being starved by the merely loud.

Place every inventory item into one of four quadrants, then apply the quadrant's action. Score urgency and importance separately; do not let a loud deadline inflate importance. The hardest and most valuable placements are the bottom two quadrants. If nothing lands there, you have not been honest.

UrgentNot Urgent
ImportantDo now. Genuine priorities with real time pressure.Schedule and protect. Your highest-value work usually lives here and usually gets starved.
Not ImportantDelegate, batch, automate, or minimize. The loud work that masquerades as priority.Drop. Stop doing this.
