Paint a clear, compelling picture of the future you are building toward, so there is a destination to steer by.
Describe a concrete future, often three to five years out. Vagueness is the failure mode: "be successful" or "grow" gives strategy nothing to aim at. A good vision is specific and vivid, so someone could picture it and know whether you arrived.
Weak: "We want to be a successful, growing firm." Strong: "In four years we are the go-to operations partner for owner-run manufacturers in our region, forty clients on retainer, a team of twelve, and known for shops that run smoothly without the owner in the weeds." You could picture the second and know if you reached it.
