Ask for the business clearly and drive deals to a real decision, so deals reach a yes or a no rather than drifting into a permanent maybe.
The most common reason deals do not close is that nobody asked. Build a direct, comfortable ask that fits your style and your buyer, and use it as a normal part of the conversation. Some approaches:
Direct ask: "Are you ready to move forward?" Summary then ask: recap the problem, value, and fit, then ask. Next step ask: "The next step would be X. Shall we set it up?"
Asking clearly respects the buyer's time and yours, and it surfaces the truth of where the deal stands.
A "maybe" is a deal in limbo. When you hear "let me think about it," work it.
A clean no is more valuable than a lingering maybe, because it frees your effort for winnable deals and keeps your pipeline honest. Driving respectfully to a decision is also a service to the buyer, who is rarely helped by a choice deferred indefinitely.
